Tuesday, June 4, 2024 The Southwestern Association for Indian Arts proudly presents this year’s exciting lineup for Indian Market Week in Santa Fe. This year, SWAIA received over 1,300 artist submissions, with over 1,000 Indigenous North American artists selected to participate in the prestigious market. “Artist applications are showing significant growth year over year,” said Jamie Schulze, SWAIA’s executive director.
“We are excited about fostering some terrific partnerships this year: from Balmain’s involvement with the SWAIA Native Fashion Show to partnering with the Santa Fe chapter of the Boys and Girls Club to exhibit student artwork, a lot of exciting things are happening.” SWAIA’s signature events are making a grand return this August, with tickets available starting June 3rd at 9 am. Indian Market Week begins with the Get Indigenous Film Festival (GIFF) at the Violet Crown on Thursday, August 16.
On Friday, the Santa Fe Community Convention Center will host the Best of Show Awards Ceremony and Luncheon, along with the Member and General Previews. For the first time, SWAIA’s annual fundraising gala will take place at the newly opened Vladem Contemporary Museum. This event supports the Southwest Association for Indian Arts’ education and advocacy efforts, celebrating Native American art, fashion, and culture with a cocktail reception, an Indigenous fashion presentation, and a live art auction.
