Shein shoppers are being warned of a new phishing scam that is putting users' personal information and money at risk. It comes as a worrying new trend is seeing people being sent an email purportedly from Shein. The email claims to contain a coveted Shein Mystery Box and urges them to click on a link to claim their prize.
However, the website the link then takes you to isn't the real Shein site. By entering your information into the fake site will enable fraudsters to steal your details. Tech expert, Marc Porcar, CEO of QR Code Generator , has explained what shoppers should do if they receive such an email.
“If you receive an email with a “Shein mystery box,” do not open it. It is a phishing email, not from Shein but from unidentified hackers looking to steal your personal information. “Designed to trick recipients into clicking on a link that redirects them to a fake website, this website mimics Shein’s official website, allowing users to enter their personal information to win a prize.
Whilst Shein does offer legitimate mystery boxes during promotions or special events, the way to know if they are legitimate is to recognize the website you are directed to.
