Tekno Train by Paul Mac| Vivid Sydney Taking a train in Sydney is usually nobody’s idea of fun.

But the Vivid Sydney festival has hired Paul Mac to convince you otherwise. Tekno Train will reinvent a couple of Sydney’s K-set trains as nightclubs, complete with immersive lights and a Paul Mac soundtrack. The multi-ARIA-winning techno producer has composed original soundtracks for two different 60-minute ‘Tekno Train’ journeys, both departing Central Station.



One will take a secret spur line into Lavender Bay, while a second, faster train will traverse the City Circle and gritty inner-south. Paul Mac’s tracks for the tracks will be accompanied by immersive custom lighting that illuminates carriage interiors. As the train moves, the lights and music will rhythmically adjust to match the train’s speed and the changing landscape outside.

“Trains have always fascinated me,” says Mac. “Their mix of rhythmic clicks and clacks, the screech of metal on metal, and the sound and smell of brakes are all sensory experiences that everyone can relate to. Tekno Train will [turn] a commuter journey into a senso.
