The terrifying moment when a plane cabin was filled with smoke sparking an emergency landing has been captured on video. The incident happened on a packed flight after an iPad charger is thought to have exploded in an overhead locker. The overpowering fumes which filled the inside of the aircraft led to a three-hour delay for passengers.

A video clip shows the moment in smoke filled the cabin. It forced several passengers to make their way to the back of the plane to avoid inhaling the fumes. Flight number RW602 left from the Philippine island of Boracay bound for Shanghai in China .



But the pilot had to carry out an emergency landing at Hong Kong International Airport. After landing in Hong Kong, the passengers were evacuated while airport workers cleaned and ventilated the cabin, a process which is reported to have taken around an hour. They arrived at their destination at around 12.30am, three hours later than scheduled. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Power chargers are prohibited from being placed in overhead lockers. The power bank was reportedly owned by a passenger for charging their iPad. It remains unclear what caused the charger to explode.
