CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio -- Cast off from the new headquarters of the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival and set sail on a journey of films Wednesday to Friday, June 19 – 21 at 3 North Franklin St. in Chagrin Falls while enjoying a sea breeze cocktail or mocktail. The new home of the film festival invites documentary film fans to viewings of four films in three days in its Sailing into Summer series.

It begins 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 with “Juneteenth Celebration: 54 Miles to Home,” directed by Claire Haughey.



Set in 1965 it tells the story of the rural roots of the civil rights movement. Three Black farming families risked their lives by providing refuge to the thousands of voting rights marchers on the historic five-day march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. Nearly 60 years later the Halls, Steeles and Gardners share what their parents and grandparents sacrificed and how this land can be preserved for future generations.

m. June 19 with “Manry at Sea – In the Wake of a Dream” and meet director Steve Wystrach and Manry family members who are scheduled to attend. The film shows how newspaper man Robert Manry followed his dream of crossing the Atlantic Ocean in 1965 in a 13-1/2-foot sloop.
