In recent weeks I’ve found myself increasingly driving along the Snake Pass more and more. This has, in no small part, been due to the amount of big gigs happening at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield . We’ve seen Liam Gallagher and Take That kick off their UK tours while Girls Aloud have stopped by as part of their reunion.

I’ve been very fortunate enough to cover the concerts as part of my role as What’s On Editor for Yorkshire Live . Mostly, due to train-related issues, I’ve had to drive to all three shows. Obviously, a first world problem but it has firmly seen me reacquaint myself with the A57 Snake Pass.

My dad’s insistence on travelling that way to London from Manchester has always absolutely boggled my mind - so there’s probably some deep-rooted childhood issues there. But, that therapy session aside, I just don’t like the idea of being caught behind tractors and trucks with journeys substantially being lengthened on occasion.

Although, during these recent excursions, I have rather enjoyed taking in that beautiful scenery. And, each time, a pub has caught my eye. It took a couple of attempts to catch the name but the pub in question is The Dog and Partridge.

There’s just something about the remote nature of it which intrigued me - a place I knew nothi.
