Prince William travelled to Edinburgh on Wednesday for a special ceremony in honour of Queen Camilla and Prince Edward , Duke of Edinburgh . The Prince of Wales , or Duke of Rothesay as he's known in Scotland, joined members of the British royal family who had already headed north for annual royal week festivities , which kicked off on Tuesday. Catherine, Princess of Wales and their three children remained at their Windsor home, with the kids at school and Kate continuing her recuperation amid cancer treatment .

King Charles is also still undergoing cancer treatment but looked well as he was laughed and chatted away while being greeted by an official welcoming committee on arrival at St Giles' Cathedral. Similar to his dad, William, 42, was decked out in the official robes, hat and regalia of the most ancient and most noble Order of the Thistle, which is the greatest order of chivalry in Scotland. The Thistle Service was held to install new members to the elite group, including the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, after King Charles announce the honours for his wife and youngest brother last year.



There were three others also appointed to the order - Baroness Black, Baroness Kennedy and Sir Geoff Palmer.
