Amid an extremely successful season for the Philadelphia Phillies, the team has decided to lock up one of its better pitchers. Philadelphia and left-hander Cristopher Sánchez are on the verge of signing a four-year extension. insider Jon Heyman of The New York Post was on the news of the agreement between the two sides.

Breaking: Cristopher Sanchez and the Phillies are finalizing a 4 year extension (plus options) to buy out his arbitration years and give Phils additional control. Sanchez, 27, wouldn't have been eligible for arbitration until 2026; was in AAA last year. He's 4-3 with 2.



91 ERA. Sánchez has been a big reason why the Phillies hold the best record in all of baseball this season and the team has noticed his value. He was in Triple-A just a season ago and now has become one of the more important members of this team.

Sánchez was under club control through the 2029 season but this new deal would add more control to the Phillies via multiple club options. It also provides Sánchez with more stability and guaranteed years on the deal. He will now have life-changing money.

These types of deals have become more common around baseball. So far this season, he has posted an ERA of 2.91 over 77.

1 innings of work. He has made 14 starts for Philadelphia and has allowed only one home run the entire season. Sánchez's jump in just a year has been extremely impressive, going from an ERA of 3.
