His current wife and then lover Margaret Morgan, (75) was found not guilty of the same charge by a jury at Luton Crown Court. Morgan had been involved in what was described as a “passionate but forbidden” affair with Margaret when he decided to have his then wife, Carol, killed, a court heard. He established a “cast-iron” alibi for his whereabouts while she was hacked to death with an axe or machete by the hitman who remains unidentified to this day.
Allen and Margaret were married in 1982, just a year after 36-year-old Carol's death.
