The Yankees wrapped up a homestand on Sunday in not the best of fashions. A loss to the Braves ensured they went 2-4 for the week, and doomed them to three-straight series losses. While they technically actually gained ground in the AL East during that stretch since Baltimore promptly got swept by Houston, it wasn’t the most fun weeks to watch.

After all that, they’re now set to head back out on the road...

sorta. Tonight, the Yankees will head across the city as they head over to Queens for the first game of the Subway Series for 2024. Tonight in the opener, Gerrit Cole will make his second start after returning from injury.

In his debut last week, he looked pretty Gerrit Cole-y, striking out five in four innings, although his final line ended up getting dinged a bit by inherited runners scoring. He will evidently be on a rough pitch count of 75-80 tonight in his second start of 2024. The headline for the rest of the lineup is that J.

D. Davis will be making his Yankee debut against his former team. The Yankees acquired him on Sunday and he’ll be hitting sixth and playing first base tonight.

Also, Jahmai Jones is DHing? David Peterson will get the start on the mound for the Mets . His 3.97 ERA is just around league average, although he is coming off a solid six-inning, two-run effort against the Rangers last week.

The Yankees will also have to look out for the Mets’ secret weapon: Grimace . We hope you’ll come join us in the game thread for tonight’s interleague, c.
