Taco Pros Mexican Cocina opened Wednesday in Dyer. The Hoffman Estates-based chain specializes in tacos, including steak, ground beef, chicken, pork, barbacoa and veggie. Its tacos can be ordered in the Mexican style with a corn tortilla, cilantro and onion or in the American style with a flour tortilla, cheese, tomatoes and lettuce.

The Mexican restaurant that uses old family recipes opened as Taco Bros in Oak Park in 2019 and soon rebranded as Taco Pros after doubling in size. It now has 17 locations across Chicagoland and Wisconsin with five more on the way. Taco Pros opened its first Northwest Indiana location at 8160 Mississippi St.



in Merrillville, in the former Red Nar Mediterranean Grill spot across from the Southlake Mall, earlier this year. It plans to expand across Northwest Indiana, including in Crown Point, Michigan City and Valparaiso. The Merrillville location is a fast-casual restaurant while its new spot at 1078-80 Joliet St.

in the Sand Ridge Plaza in Dyer is a sit-down eatery. It has servers, table service and a bar serving beer and wine. The menu also includes burritos, tortas, enchiladas, protein bowls, nachos, cheese quesadillas, elote and homemade chips and salsa.

Meals come with a choice of rice and beans or French fries. Taco Pros will be open in Dyer from 11 a.m.

to 10 p.m. daily.
