The Leyland Arms is a true archetypal country pub. It can be found by following winding narrow lanes with the odd pheasant or two blocking the road. The pub is located in idyllic countryside in Llanelidan, which is a small farming community village between Ruthin and Corwen.
A Grade II listed building, the pub was originally a working farm and dates back to 1350. It is located in grounds spanning three acres and is flanked by the church and village hall. The pub overlooks the village cricket pitch, and has the Clwydian Mountains and rolling hills as a stunning green backdrop.
From the road this place looks very grand with its stone exterior, and outside seating area. There are a number of marquess at the back of the pub as they often host live music events. However, the extra cars appeared to be for a cricket match with the relaxing noise of bat and ball in the distance. Inside, the large old stone-built pub has low wooden beams and a log burner. The building has retained many of its original features and charm with an country squire vibe due to its old Welsh dressers and wooden floor.
It has an authentic look and nothing like the fake theme book wallpaper often favoured by pub chains. The pub is split .
