A guest unveils themselves by answering our nosy questions. Today, Rossy de Palma, Almodovar’s iconic muse. What’s your first memory of Cannes? I came for the first time 25 years ago with a broken heart, buying anything and everything to console myself.

I’d call my girlfriends on the phone and show them what I’d bought, and they’d say, « Are you crazy? What’s your best memory of Cannes? I have many. When I was part of the jury 10 years ago with the Cohen brothers, when I was lucky enough to be president of the Camera d’Or 2 years ago..



. What haven’t I done at Cannes yet! I’ve got a love affair with this festival – look, it brings tears to my eyes to tell you. What’s your secret HQ in Cannes? I don’t necessarily have a secret HQ, but I love wandering around Cannes, looking at people’s dress codes, the stepladders that little old men bring down to catch a glimpse of the actors on the red carpet, all that passion and energy for cinema.

What are you up to at 3 a.m. in Cannes? That’s when I return my jewelry to the bodyguard.

An important memory related to cinema for you? When Volver won the award for Best Actress for all its actresses, even though I wasn’t in the film, I felt it was given to me too, because for me it was a prize for every Almodovar woman. I hope that one day he’ll win the Palme d’Or, but for now I’m his only Palme (Palma, editor’s note). A fashion faux-pas on the red carpet? But faux-pas are wonderful! You have to do them! D.
