The 15-second teaser simply shows someone in a coat standing in an ominously lighted room, their face covered by a paper bag with a smiling expression drawn on it.

Finally, a Japanese word appears on the screen, reading "smiling man." Recent Nintendo products include Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Luigi's Mansion 2, and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble, which is appropriate for adults and children. This is why many were perplexed when Nintendo released a brief, cryptic video about what looked like a frightening horror game.



The Japanese wording appears on all trailer versions, including those marketed by Nintendo UK and Nintendo of America for the Nintendo Switch. The video is merely named Emio, and the caption is #WhoIsEmio. This is the burning question on everyone's mind, as the trailer does not explain what it is about.
