EASTER Ross lifesavers at sea have been left with a song in their hearts and a welcome cheque in their kitty courtesy of a local musical troupe. Invergordon RNLI volunteers welcomed cast and crew from Easter Ross Musical Theatre to the lifeboat station for a cheque presentation from a recent show in anniversary celebrations. In line with the RNLI celebrating 200 years, and Invergordon RNLI & Easter Ross Musical Theatre (ERMT) celebrating their 50th anniversary, the cast and crew from ERMT presented a cheque for £646.
45 to the RNLI volunteer crew of Invergordon Lifeboat Station in response to a collection at their recent stage show ‘Anything Goes’ which took place at Tain’s Duthac Centre in March. With a nautical theme, Anything Goes is set aboard the ocean liner S.S.
American where nightclub singer/evangelist Reno Sweeney is en route from New York to England. Her friend Billy Crocker has stowed away to be near his love Hope Harcourt, and with elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors and good old-fashioned blackmail Reno and her crew mates help Billy in his quest to win Hope’s heart. Show lead Kerry Russell (Reno Sweeny) in her sailors outfit along with group chairperson Anne Hurst presented the fantastic amount to lifeboat coxswain Andrew Murray looked on by volunteer lifeboat crew and members of ERMT before embarking on a tour of the Invergordon’s all-weather launch a memory lifeboat RNLB Agnes AP Barr by the dedicated volunteers from the station’s visit team le.
