Noel Twomey is charged with two counts of assault causing harm to his wife, Jackie Cork District Court A MAN accused of pouring boiling water over his sleeping wife and attacking her with a claw hammer is to face a further charge. The additional charge came two months after Noel Twomey (63) queried the delays in processing the case against him and insisted that "there is nothing at all wrong with her - (she is) a normal woman." Twomey of Carbery Grove, Knocknaheeny, Cork city is charged with two counts of assault causing harm to his wife, Jackie Twomey, last January at their home on the northside of Cork city.

He has been refused bail both at District and High Court level. When he appeared before Cork District Court last March, he told the court he could not understand why the case against him was delayed so that a medical report could be prepared in relation to his wife. “Her face is perfect, her body is perfect, she is normal, there is nothing all wrong with her — (she is) a normal woman.

” Judge Mary Dorgan explained to Twomey that a medical report had to be prepared in a serious case where he faced two charges of assault causing harm. Defence solicitor, Shane Collins Daly, who previously told the court that his client was anxious that the case be dealt with, said that there had been "progress" in the case. Judge Dorgan was informed that a new charge was being levelled.

Twomey will appear before the court on May 27 next in relation to the matter though no details were.
