She started working at Esser Motors in Morris as a bookkeeper. After they moved to Willmar in 1960 she worked at the Willmar Clinic and for Kandiyohi County in charge of the Motor Vehicle Office. She was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church for 64 years.
In their early years both Al and Lorraine enjoyed bowling and snowmobiling. Lorraine was an extraordinary cook and seamstress. Her young daughters were always outfitted in handsewn fashionable outfits.
She also sewed both of their wedding dresses, and most of the bridal party dresses. In 1981, Al and Lorraine purchased 5 acres of wooded land bordering Whitefish Lake in Beltrami County, at the time it was only accessible by boat. Over the course of the next 35 years, with a lot of hard work and help from family, it was turned into a little bit of heaven with all the amenities.
It was enjoyed by 4 generations of family and frien.
