The owner of an ice-cream shop and restaurant that has been around for 50 years has shared the scoop on the chain’s eighth Lowcountry location. Cole Spradling , owner of the North Charleston Ye Ole Fashioned , is opening a new establishment at 832 Foundation St., at the corner of Clements Ferry Road.
The restaurant should open sometime in November, Spradling said. This is his second Ye Ole Fashioned operation. The other locations in Mount Pleasant, Goose Creek and two each in West Ashley and Summerville are owned and operated by other family members.
The Cainhoy-area restaurant will follow the example set by the other establishments with the old-fashioned diner look and traditional menu. It will have a covered patio but no drive-thru. The chain is a Lowcountry staple, known for its community involvement, such as sponsoring baseball teams, Spradling said.
The owners have had no need to pay for marketing, relying on word of mouth. [email protected] “But with so many people moving to Charleston every day, we’re going to have to start advertising a little to get the word out,” Spradling said.
He’s been eager to get into the Cainhoy peninsula area , which is bustling with development as more than 9,000 homes are expected to be built in the next 20 years. Not only will the area open the restaurant to more customers over the years, but the nearby high school could be a great feeder for young employees. “We hire a lot of high school students so I’m sure we’ll.
