Monrovia – Labour Minister Hon. Cllr. Cooper W.

Kruah, Sr. has officially opened and engagement forum on possible Harmonization of the Decent Work Act to confirm provisions of International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions on equity of trade union status of both public and private sector workers. Addressing the official opening of the gathering in Monrovia on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Labour Ministry in Monrovia, Minister Kruah assured Liberia’s continuous commitment to provisions of the ILO, as a founding member and emphasized the President Joseph Nyumah Boakai Government’s unflinching support to ensuring and protecting freedom of association by private and public sector workers, as guaranteed by The Liberian Constitution.



The gathering is being attended by officials from local and international trade union organizations, affiliate institutions and government agencies, including members of the National Legislature. Here is the voice of Labour minister Kruah at the occasion. In 2015, the Decent Work Act of Liberia was passed into law to replace the old Labour Law practices.

The phrase Decent Work originated from the International Labor Organization (1999); and refers to employment that “contributes to the social and economic stability” of employees. Decent work fashions are a traditional modification toward an unbiased and unwavering workforce, investing in the employer’s capability to economically improve their quality of life. “Decent work” sums up the am.
