HYDERABAD: Be it a steaming and slurpy bowl of ramen or spicy tteok-bokki or 10-step Korean glass skincare or gushing over K-pop artists, the Hallyu or Korean wave has already seeped into the masses. Reigning on this, Arirang , the Korean fair , kicked off at the city's Sarath City Mall on Friday. Offering a unique blend of traditional and contemporary Korean experiences, the two-day fair is being organised by the Honorary Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hyderabad in association with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Delhi.
Organising the fair for the first time in the city, Suresh Chukkapalli, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Korea, Telangana, said: “The Honorary Consulate has been conducting many cultural events since its inception in April 2018. However, this is the first time we’ve had the opportunity to bring such a fair to Hyderabad. Especially as the vendors came from all over the country.
We’re hoping to bring more Korean events in the future to promote cross-cultural exchange and understanding.” Bringing a slice of Korea to Hyderabad, the event showcased K-consumer products from over 11 exhibitors representing cosmetics, food, fashion, jewellery, K-pop and drama merchandise and much more. Apart from these stalls, the fair also promises a variety of cultural performances including taekwondo, music and K-pop acts.
