Uniontown Joyce E. Thompson, 70, of Uniontown, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the Brighton Rehab and Wellness Center Inc., Beaver.
She was born October 5, 1953, to the late Alfred Thompson, Sr. and Geraldine Gray Thompson in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Joyce loved God and she loved her family. She was a cheerleader and ran on the track team during her early high school years before her family moved to Brownsville. She graduated from Brownsville High School in 1971.
Joyce was employed as an Administrative Assistant for years at the Federal Bureau of Investigations under J. Edgar Hoover. She was later employed for 23 years as an Administrative Assistant at Jenner & Block Law Firm in Washington, DC.
Joyce loved to dance and loved all types of music. She was a shopaholic and loved fashion. She traveled the globe, often as a solo traveler, enjoying the beauty of the world.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Dionne E. Wharton and husband, Blake Wharton of Uniontown; siblings: Alfred Thompson, Sr. and wife, Josephine of McClellandtown, Jeffrey Thompson of Brownsville, Glenn Thompson of Tower Hill Two, Eugene Thompson of Tower Hill Two and Arnetta Thompson – Henderson of Edenborn; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received at THE LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, INC., 297 E. Main Street, Uniontown, from 11 a.
m. to 1 p.m.
on Tuesday, June 18, the hour of service with Pastor Alfred Thompson, Jr. officiating. Interment will immediately follow at LaFayette Cemetery in Brier.
