Jet2 has warned passengers about its 'zero tolerance approach' on flights and said rule-breakers risk being billed, banned or even convicted in court. The airline sent a 'clear message' to the 'tiny minority' of travellers who cause disruption to flights. It warned that staff 'will not hesitate to take action' against people who behave in a disruptive manner on-board.

The message was directed to passengers who buy alcohol in duty free and then drink it on the plane, breaking airline rules. Last week, one unruly Jet2 passenger was jailed for four months after she admitted entering the aircraft while drunk, smoking on the plane and behaving in a threatening, abusive or disorderly manner towards staff. The police were called to offload the woman after she was caught consuming alcohol she had purchased beforehand in the airport.
