Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duchess of Calabria and Duchess of Palermo may have a lot of titles, but she's not in line to inherit any royal thrones. That didn't stop her from splashing out on an extravagant 21st birthday party in Sardinia, a large island off the coast of Italy, this week. She posed with a massive four-tier birthday cake for photos which she later posted on Instagram, alongside other videos and snaps from the weekend. One showed her literally surrounded by shopping bags as she unwrapped her gifts after the party. Born on June 23, 2003, Carolina inherited her royal titles from her father Prince Carlo, who descends from the House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, which ruled over Southern Italy and Sicily in the 18th and 19th centuries. The family's throne has been defunct for hundreds of years, but they still have ties to royalty around Europe. "The Bourbon family is related to almost all the royal families or former rulers of Europe, it's a kind of big club," Chiara previously told I.
