It feels like DJ and music artist Peggy Gou has been everywhere in the past month. Like, literally—shutting down the in Indio, Cannes for the , the in Monaco—and on her lips, she's had a glossy secret, ready to be announced today: Gou joins supermodel as the newest global ambassador for Maybelline New York. The first product she ever bought from the brand was actually a bronzer.
“I remember buying the Maybelline's Expert Wear Bronzer from a store in Croydon when I was a student in London,” Gou tells exclusively. But these days, she calls the brand's her favorite. “Since I am always on the go, I need a lipstick that is going to last whether I am on the red carpet or on stage at a show.
It also comes in so many shades which I love!” Although she works in a male-dominated industry (it's thought that only around 30% of the industry's DJs are female-identifying), that's not something that Gou finds intimidating. “In the infancy of my career, a lot of doors were closed [because of my gender],” she says. But I eventually stopped caring about negative opinions and will never let it affect me or my decision-making.
" It also hasn't stopped her from leaning into her love of beauty and fashion. “I am free to be as individual as I want just like with my music or with my style.” And though Gou leans toward a sort of signature beauty look—“my eyeliner”—she jokes that she recently has added something new to her routine: Acting like “a grandma.
” “When I'm not.
