NEW DELHI: As Pankaj Advani aims for an unprecedented third consecutive Asian Billiards Championship title, the Indian cueist has commenced his campaign in a dominant fashion. The start to the tournament saw Advani secure two consecutive victories, setting a strong foundation for his title defence. Advani's first challenge came from Myanmar's Aung Phyo.

Despite facing initial resistance, Advani showcased his experience and skill, securing a 4-2 victory. The match began with Advani taking a commanding 2-0 lead, winning the first two frames comfortably with scores of 100(86)-35 and 104-34. However, Phyo mounted a comeback, narrowly winning the third frame 83(66)-101(54) and levelling the match by claiming the fourth frame 35-100(61).



Unfazed by the pressure, Advani regained control, winning the next two frames decisively with scores of 100(53)-26 and 100(100)-14, securing his first victory in the tournament. The second match proved to be a more formidable challenge as Advani faced Thailand's Yuttapop Pakpoj . The match was a tense affair, with momentum shifting back and forth between the two players.

Advani started strong, securing the first two frames with scores of 100(93)-00 and 101-03. However, Pakpoj showcased his resilience, claiming the third frame 61-100 and setting the stage for a thrilling comeback. Advani responded by winning the fourth frame 102(99)-05, but Pakpoj refused to back down, taking the fifth frame 79(70)-101(60) and levelling the match at 3-3 by winning t.
