A bloke who’s dating a has hit back at suggestions that he’s only with her for her money. Terrance, a self-confessed “nerd” from Atlanta in the US, has always been attracted to plus-sized women and his romance with girlfriend Nikki is actually his . But online commenters can’t believe he’s with Nikki for the right reasons, and insist that he must have some ulterior motive.
He told the podcast: "I remember one comment saying ‘He's with her because she pays all the bills,’ and another one called me a bum or whatnot.” Nikki is confident that Terrance loves her for who she is, although, she adds, in the past she’s dated men who were with her for the wrong reasons. She continued: “I've always dated smaller guys.
A lot of times, as a plus-size girl, you can't really tell if they actually like you or if they’re fetishising you. I feel that if you don't actually like me, you just like what I look like that would definitely keep me from dating you.” The couple say they’ve become used to being started at, especially when they visit restaurants.
She also feels judged just because Terrance is with her. She continued: "If we're out holding hands being affectionate people will be looking at me like I don't deserve to have someone with me.” While strangers stare silently at them when they’re out together, online they feel brave enough to actually say what they think.
