Just a short walk from Bow Church station, you’ll discover a hidden street market that offers amazing fashion deals and authentic international bakeries. I decided to check it out and found a traditional Turkish bakery with an impressive range of baklava flavours. Roman Road Market has been running for over 150 years, and it is famed for its affordable women’s fashion, delicious street food, and quality homeware.
It spans half a kilometre through the heart of Bow in East London. Fashion stalls dominate the market, but you’ll also find jewellery, headwear, and beauty products. You can score amazing deals on clothes, including end-of-line pieces from French Connection and Topshop.

For instance, you can find Fiesta, a family-owned typical East End cafe, with simple decor and generous portions of comfort food. The Dags, who moved from Turkey to Hackney in 2008, run Fiesta, and their aim is to keep the traditions of East End cafes alive.
They serve hearty English breakfasts, sandwiches, and their popular lasagne. Roman Road also boasts one of the East End’s last remaining pie and mash shops, which even serves jellied eels! Unfortunately, it was closed during my visit. After exploring, I stopped at an authentic Turkish bakery for a snack.
