Queen Maryof Denmark's nephew, Count Nikolai of Monzepat, learned a lot about his aunt's homeland – and its fashion sense – during his recent stay in Australia. The 24-year-old royal and model relocated to Sydney in late 2023 to study business at the University of Technology, where he quickly adapted to Aussie life. READ MORE: Huge change coming to biggest annual event on royal calendar "I think every Dane everywhere in the world finds Australia quite fascinating because it's so far away, it's quite exotic," he told GQ this week.

"When I think of Australians, I picture a mullet and a moustache, and very sporty, active people. Similar to Danes, we're all quite laid back too." Though he returned to Denmark after his semester abroad, the Danish royal still has a soft spot for the Land Down Under and returned for Australian Fashion Week (AFW) earlier this month.



 It makes sense, given Nikolai has been modelling since 2018, when first signed with a modelling agency and made his runway debut. But he wasn't walking in some indie designer's show; Nikolai made his first runway appearance at none other than London Fashion Week, where he walked for luxury fashion house Burberry. Since then he's been climbing the fashion ladder, working with massive brands like Dior and Danish jewellery icon Georg Jensen.
