Where comfort food is concerned, you really cannot beat a good, old-fashioned carvery. North East Lincolnshire has an array of options to choose from when the craving for beef slathered in horseradish sauce and Yorkshire puddings with mash and gravy arises (which is pretty often, in my case), but my go-to spot for the last couple of years has been the Jug & Bottle in Holton-le-Clay . So, on a sunny Monday evening, having skipped making Sunday lunch the previous day, our family-of-three made the drive down there to treat ourselves to a carvery.

Two traditional midweek carveries with pigs in blankets added on came to just under £18, which I thought was fairly reasonable. A kids' carvery, which included a choice of dessert, came to £6.

49. Like most people, I tend to go to the Jug & Bottle on Sundays, and am used to having to queue around the restaurant for the carvery. So it made a very welcome change to just be able to walk up to the counter and hand our tickets in, without a queue in sight.

My carvery was delicious (Image: Grimsby Live) I went for turkey and beef with a Yorkshire pudding, alongside the pigs in blankets, and had a bit of everything on the side. Di.
