PAT McAfee has taken to his ESPN show to publically apologize for controversial comments he made about WNBA star Caitlin Clark. While live on ESPN and YouTube on Monday, McAfee hugely misjudged his choice of words when discussing Clark and the rest of the WNBA 's highly-touted rookie class. During a game of 'Which WNBA Rookie,' intended to highlight the impact Clark has had on the league throughout her first 11 games, McAfee unintentionally disrespected not only the former Iowa star but the rest of the 2024 class.

He not only called Clark a "white b***h" but also a "cash cow" during his lengthy rant. Unsurprisingly, McAfee's comments quickly flooded X, formerly known as Twitter , where he came under heavy criticism from fans. Later on Monday, McAfee tweeted an apology for his comments , saying he had also reached out to Clark personally to apologize.



Fast forward to Tuesday morning, McAfee opted to kick off his show by addressing the elephant in the room. "I utilized a descriptor that I certainly should not have used," he said. "I utilized the words 'white b***h' to describe Caitlin Clark as the superstar in Indiana," McAfee later explained.

"Now, when I was saying it, I legitimately meant it in a complimentary fashion, like, 'This is the one.' " McAfee went on to say that upon seeing the reactions from outraged fans, it dawned on him that he'd made a mistake. He even claimed that for much of Monday he "felt like actually the worst human on earth.
