It's been a difficult week down in Digbeth as the neighbourhood saw the closure of two of its nightspots, entertainment venue The Floodgate and live music bar The Devil's Dog . The former was part of Digbeth's nightlife scene for five years while the latter lasted only 16 months in that old car showroom opposite Dead Wax. But while hard hit Digbeth might be down, it's certainly not out.
This weekend, the community is coming together for an Everything Digbeth opening day, to show Birmingham what it's all about, and you can go along and enjoy the best of one of the city's most creative neighbourhoods for free. On Saturday, June 22, Zellig is collaborating with Digbeth Art Space to host an open day in which visitors can browse market stalls and receive offers from brilliant venues in the area. It includes street food from House of Wingz, Hope You're Hungry and Gurdev's indian Street Food as well as drinks, kids activities, music from Matty George, Livvie Wilkes and Olly Powell and more.
