Wimbledon is here and fans from all around the globe will be tuning in to watch some world-class tennis over the next few weeks. The Grand Slam event takes place from July 1 to July 14 at the All England Tennis Club in south-west London and attracts the world ’s best players. Carlos Alcaraz will attempt to defend the title he won in amazing fashion against Novak Djokovic last year, while Marketa Vondrousova is the reigning champion in the women’s singles, but Iga Swiatek is the favourite.

The local fans will be hoping for strong performances from British No1 Jack Draper in the men’s singles, while Katie Boulter and Emma Raducanu could make an impact in the women’s singles. With Roger Federer having retired, Rafal Nadal not competing and Djokovic recovering from a knee injury, it could be the time for a young gun to break through on the biggest stage. The players hardly needed any more motivation to compete, but an increased total prize pot of £50million is certainly eye-catching.

It has been increased from last year’s total of £44.7m, giving the singles winners £2.7m each and meaning that players who go out in the first round still net £60,000.

Thousands of fans will descend on SW19, hoping to soak up some sunshine, eat some strawberries and cream and enjoy some great tennis. But for those not fortunate enough to be there, watching on TV will be the best bet. Here are all the details you need to know to do so.

As ever, Wimbledon will be shown on the BBC in the U.
