Here’s a sampling of things we love this week: Coopers Uptown hosts a cigar event on July 18. Coopers Uptown , 2401 60th St. in Kenosha, is hosting its third Outdoor Cigar Event of the season today.
There will be specials on cigars and lots of swag. The event is 5-9 p.m.
Thursday, July 18. Food will be available 5-7 p.m.
at Coopers Café. Everyone is welcome to this free event. Note: You must be 21 or older to purchase tobacco.
Saturday is Moon Day, celebrating the moon landing that happened on July 20, 1969, when astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first human to step down onto the cratered surface of the moon. He marked the occasion with these words: “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” To celebrate, watch a space-related film like “First Man” or “Apollo 13” or one of the many documentaries made about the moon landing.
You can also just howl at the moon! Celebrate Vanilla Ice Cream Day on July 23. We enjoy gourmet ice cream — with flavors with cool names like “Triple Mocha Salted Caramel” and “Goat Cheese Marionberry Habanero” — as much as the next glutton, but sometimes it’s refreshing to enjoy a good, old-fashioned scoop of comfort. We celebrate Vanilla Ice Cream Day on July 23 and look forward to sitting on the front porch, savoring a few moments with our old friend, vanilla ice cream.
Vanilla Ice Cream Day is not to be confused with Vanilla Ice Day, which is a totally different thing. There’s a German-style bierga.
