The Green Bay Packers are one of the few teams in the NFL that still deploy a fullback in some fashion. That is what provides Henry Pearson a chance to break out during training camp this summer. Undrafted out of Appalachian State in 2023, Henry Pearson latched on with the Packers last offseason.
He did enough to remain on the team’s radar, as he appeared in two games during his rookie season. There won’t be many opportunities for him to get his name on the stat sheet, as he isn’t going to be heavily involved in the offensive game plan for rushes or receptions. But, he has a chance to carve out a role in this offense as a blocker.
That is what makes Henry Pearson a player to keep an eye on during training camp at the end of the month. As shared by Paul Bretl of Packers Wire , the opportunity is there for him to earn a role weekly in the offense. “With Tucker Kraft sidelined with a pec injury and Tyler Davis still rehabbing his ACL injury, Henry Pearson was the third tight end during offseason programs–a tremendous opportunity for him.
With Josiah Deguara in Jacksonville, Pearson will have the opportunity to earn a roster spot as the H-back, being asked to move around the formation and utilized primarily as a blocker, but able to impact both the running and passing games,” Bretl wrote. In 15 games last season, Deguara played 20 percent of the offensive snaps. He was a special teams contributor as well, playing 57 percent of the snaps there.
It isn’t a glorious ro.
