The mum of a teen who died after complaining of stomach pain has opened up about the tragic death a year on, as she vowed to use her grief to help others. Donna Sinclair, from the Newlands area of the city, has spoken out following the anniversary of the death of daughter Kaya-Imaani Chambers after a six-week battle with cancer on May 23, last year. Glasgow Live how the 18-year-old engineering student had spent months going back and forth to the GP after complaining of pain in her stomach before developing rib pains, lumps in her neck as well as coughing fits.

Kaya was eventually rushed to in April after she started to pass blood in her urine and was given antibiotics with doctors believing she was suffering from kidney stones. Just weeks later she was back at hospital and was found to have irregularities in her blood - which was later discovered to be cancer following tests. Donna believes the disease could have been caught quicker if the right tests were carried out sooner.



She has since launched the Kaya Foundation to give families the option of fast-track tests to avoid lengthy NHS waiting lists. The 57-year-old mum received the news in March that the charity is now registered, and says it is already helping people with one single mum discovering she has a cyst the size of a grapefruit following a test that the foundation helped provide. Speaking to she said: "The anniversary has been an emotional week for everyone.

"She touched so many lives and it's been good to see how.
