Nagpur: Gaurav Rege , Kripi Sajwan and young Aditya Yaul won their respective semifinals with ease to enter twin finals on the penultimate day of the Baidyanath Yonex Sunrise Nagpur District badminton championship at the Subhedar Hall, Ravi Nagar, on Monday. While Gaurav and Kripi won the men’s and women’s singles semifinals in straight games, 13-year-old Aditya gave a dominant display to qualify for the U-13 and U-15 finals. In the open mixed doubles event, Gaurav partnered with Pinak Rokde and Kripi paired up with Aashish Rajput to record victories in contrasting fashion and set the title clash on Tuesday.
In the last semifinal of the day, young Fizza Akbani stunned Pinak Rokde 21-15, 17-21, 21-12 in a 44-minute thriller. Fizza will face the challenge of Ditisha Somkuwar in the U-19 girls singles final. Fizza also entered the U-15 and U-17 girls singles semifinals.
