What happens when you merge a beloved American brand with cool California designs? The Gap X Dôen collection. For Gap’s latest collaboration, they tapped sisters Margaret and Katherine Kleveland of the beloved West Coast brand Dôen to create a 51-piece collection for women and kids that merges their feminine and bohemian sensibility with Gap’s signature styles. The collection, which has been a year in the making, was a dream come true for the sisters.

“Growing up, our mom was the quintessential Gap woman: her classic style was formative in our own personal style and design ambitions from an early age,” explains Margaret. “To be able to partner with an iconic brand that provides the same nostalgic feeling that we aim to create with our designs is truly surreal.” The collection – which is the “perfect marriage of two brands”, according to Katherine – marries Dôen’s classic florals and eyelet blouses with Gap’s timeless denim and khakis.

For the campaign, it only made sense for the beloved sisters to cast another set of fashion sisters: Lily and Ruby Aldridge. Just as the Klevelands both have their distinct styles (Margaret leans more towards vintage ’90s-inspired outfits, while Katherine has a dreamy, floral aesthetic), the Aldridges also have differing tastes that are reflected in the campaign shoot. Singer Ruby, who prefers a more tomboy-ish cool vibe, slipped into the ultra-wide khakis and jeans, pointelle tanks, button-downs, and baggy barn j.
