SERGIO ROMERO has gone from silverware at the Theatre of Dreams to silver hair on his final big stage. The ex- Manchester United keeper, 37, has unveiled a platinum look with home-country giants Boca Juniors. Romero is Argentina's most-capped stopper, with 96 appearances from 2008-2018.
His international swansong came midway through six years as David de Gea 's back-up at Old Trafford, where he won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League. And as well as new streaks in his hair, he's still showing flashes of brilliance on the pitch. Romero pulled off a double shootout save as Boca sunk Palmeiras in last season's Copa Libertadores semis.
Sadly for the ex-Sampdoria No1, Fluminense avenged defeat for their fellow Brazilians with a 2-1 win at the final in Rio de Janeiro last November. Now Romero has changed his locks in an effort to help Boca find the key to solving their surprise early plight this campaign. He's gone silver for the past two matches - with the so-called "second phase" of the season, which began last month, just under way.
Romero's fashion re-think was highlighted in a fun video by hair salon Peluqueria Nino. š¤©š§¤š¦š· Sergio Romero. Penalty Shootout.
