Zara, the world's biggest fast fashion brand, has had many firsts in India, a country where some of the best-known international labels have met their Waterloo. The Spanish brand was the quickest to turn profitable in its first full year of operations in 2011. It was also the first clothing brand to cross the INR1000 sales mark in FY17, in just six years after it entered the market.

Simply put, Zara had proven to be adept at selling fine.
