Article content In a fun food-fashion crossover, Finnish lifestyle brand Marimekko has popped up at Holt Renfrew in Toronto and Vancouver for a limited time. Part of an ongoing 60th anniversary celebration of the brand’s most iconic abstract floral print, called Unikko, the pop ups include a shopping space in each store featuring some of the brand’s pre-fall 2024 collection along with home goods designs such as plates, cups, coasters and more. But this pop-up partnership goes beyond just fashion.
Through a partnership extended to , the Finnish brand’s decor and floral graphics have been used around the café space. Plus, the chef teams have created a limited menu inspired by Finnish flavours. In Vancouver, the special menu includes items such as a smoked whitefish tartine with red onion, dill, yogurt and lumpfish caviar ($19), savoy cabbage rolls ($17), Pacific shrimp skagen with preserved lemon and a dill-and-yuzu creme fraiche ($17), along with a few Finnish-inspired cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks and sweet treats.
Between the printed plates and decor, and the freshly plated flavours, the special Marimekko-inspired menu makes for a sensational summer dining moment. But you’d better visit soon. The Marimekko pop-ups and Holts Café takeover wrap up on July 31.
