Fair City star Connie Doona is set to begin her maternity leave as she prepares to welcome a baby this summer. The actress, who plays Carrigstown's Zoe Allen, has filmed her final scenes on the show ahead of becoming a first time mum as the soap records weeks in advance of hitting screens. The news that she and her co-star boyfriend Shane Quigley Murphy, who plays Gar Boyle, was first exclusively announced by RSVP Magazine last month.
Connie will take a few months off before returning to her role later in the year. The RTÉ star added: "Yeah, I'm finishing up now and will be on maternity leave, and then hopefully back towards the end of the year.
" Ahead of officially leaving screens soon, Connie's character of Zoe has been caught up in the current murder investigation after Laura Halpin's body was discovered buried in the community garden. She told the RTÉ Guide: "It's such a delicate subject, how to make the streets feel safer for women. So to be given the chance to talk about it is always great.
