EX-NBA Draft pick Royce White has scored a major win in his political career. After spending the latter stages of his basketball career writing messages like "Trump won" and "Protect RFK Jr." on his head during games, White is now in the race to become a US senator .

White was selected in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets out of Iowa State. However, he only played three games in his NBA career, all for the Sacramento Kings in the 2013-14 season, as mental health issues plagued his career. Now, outside of basketball, White has built a political career and has scored an endorsement from the GOP to take on Democrat Amy Klobuchar for the Minnesota senatorial seat.

“Thank you MNGOP and delegates for endorsing me as candidate [sic] in the 2024 Minnesota United States Senate race," White tweeted after the endorsement. "I’m at a loss for words and that takes a lot." White is not guaranteed to be the candidate for the Republican position, as primary voting still needs to take place on August 13.

There are around half a dozen candidates for the seat, including former naval intelligence officer Joe Fraser. Fraser was previously considered the favorite for the GOP endorsement, according to the Star Tribune . White scoring the endorsement from the GOP is a huge win for his political career, which he started in 2022.

The 33-year-old originally ran in the GOP primary for the senatorial seat in Minnesota but failed to earn a bid. With a better chance at winning.
