FASHION has taken us to some weird places. From denim thongs and hoof-like heels to blow-up latex bodysuits and taxidermy animal heads on dresses (we’re looking at you, Kylie Jenner). But just when you think people’s outlandish ways of dressing can’t be topped, a new trend comes along.
This time, it’s wearing jeans as a top. The trend has taken social media by storm, with women wrapping the legs of their jeans over the shoulders and around their bodies for a makeshift blouse. Jeans and a nice top has always been fashionable, but jeans as a nice top is totally new territory.
One style blogger was trolled on Instagram earlier this week for rocking the look. Marina, behind the In Charge of Outfits page, said she was “kind of obsessed” with the look. Not all of her followers shared the same sentiment.
“Now take it off and wear something normal,” one demanded. Others begged Marina to “never do this again” and begged her to tell them the style is satire. “That's like wearing shoes on your hands,” another armchair fashion critic weighed in.
"Enough is enough," more penned. Some attackers even compared the look to something Balenciaga would produce. After years of flogging dresses that look like bin bags, the French fashion house has cemented it as the wackiest designer on the market.
