If you are a low-cost carrier, the more seats you can cram on the plane, the better. However, for full-service airlines, such as Delta Air Lines, the better option is to have more premium seats that bring higher yields per passenger. Looking after premium passengers is an art in itself, with everything from the lie-flat bed to the food and the pillow under scrutiny, even including the quality of the amenity kits.
This week, (Delta) announced it was adding some Italian luxury style to its Delta One experience. That style is coming in the form of a new partnership Delta has formed with Italian luxury fashion house Missoni and will extend to Delta One amenity kits and customized elements of the new Delta One Lounge at New York JFK. Missoni is a brand known for its creative use of colors and patterns, which the airline believes will further differentiate the premium Delta One experience.
The new will feature Missoni's signature textured zigzag pattern on the outside of the bag while the same intentional design continues inside the bag. The Delta and Missoni teams created an exclusive pattern and color palette, which the airline said celebrates the view from the window at 30,000 feet while paying homage to Delta's nearly 100-year flying heritage. Talking about the new designs, Delta Vice President - Brand Experience Design, Mauricio Parise said: "We've been intentional about creating a Delta One experience - both on the ground and in the air - that feels truly premium and elevated.
