Clendenin is gearing up for its annual Summerfest, a vibrant celebration taking over Main Street and Elk Avenue this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.

m. The festival promises a day full of excitement with craft vendors, delicious food, face painting, a fashion show, a petting zoo, a mobile gaming center, live music, and a spectacular fireworks display. The event kicks off with opening ceremonies at 11 a.



m., followed by a fashion show at noon. Music enthusiasts can enjoy performances starting at 1 p.

m. with Mason Adkins, Mother Nature Band at 2 p.m.

, Criminal Supply Company at 3:30 p.m., Independent State at 5:30 p.

m., and Rewind the Walkman from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

The celebration concludes with a stunning fireworks display on U.S. 119 at 9:30 p.

m. This year's Summerfest also marks the eighth anniversary of the devastating 2016 flood that claimed 23 lives. Initially known as the "Celebration of the Flood," the event now focuses on the town's resilience and progress.

Clendenin Mayor Kay Summers emphasizes looking forward, highlighting the accomplishments since the tragic event, including the construction of a new elementary school set to open in August. Summers expressed gratitude to the Kanawha County Commission for their ongoing support, which has been crucial in Clendenin's recovery and development. As residents prepare to enjoy the festivities, Summers advises everyone to stay cool and hydrated, with plenty of water and food trucks available throughout the day.
