Fashion lovers are invited to shop at a new marketplace event in the north-east this month, with charity organisers promising a face-to-face alternative to online buying and selling platforms. Clan’s VIP Fashion Event will take place at Clan House at 120 Westburn Road, Aberdeen on Sunday, July 28 from 10am – 2pm. Shoppers can browse 17 stalls from individuals and businesses including Shells Vintage, 1323 Jewellery, House of Jane Vintage & Designer Boutique, Planet Tasteful, Bchic and Butterfly Bags, with a mixture of vintage, pre-loved designer and new clothing and accessories on display.

The charity’s retail team was inspired to create the event by the growing trend of second-hand fashion, with digital selling platform Vinted recently reporting a €17.8 million profit for 2023. Heather Ramshaw, Clan’s e-commerce and retail manager, said: “As customers deal with the cost of living crisis and become increasingly aware of the fashion industry’s environmental impact, we’ve seen shopping habits change and more people turning to online marketplaces.

“Our VIP Fashion Event aims to offer a face to face buying and selling experience similar to those offered on popular digital platforms, but without the need to deal with packaging and posting or being let down by an item not looking like it did online. “This is a new event concept for Clan and we’ve been encouraged by the response we’ve had so far from buyers and sellers who are looking for an ‘in-person’ ma.
