A Democratic candidate for South Carolina House District 93 Wednesday challenged voters to cast their ballot for the best candidate in the June primary and not vote for the most popular candidate. Johnny Felder took a subtle jab at former S.C.
House District 95 Rep. Jerry Govan, who was in the S.C.
House for 30 years, before being displaced from District 95 due to the redrawing of district lines in 2022. "We have to be smart about who we send out of this primary so we don't lose this seat in November," Felder said during a candidate forum held at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Roquemore Auditorium. "Please think hard about not making this a popularity contest about what somebody claims to have done for 30 years, about what we are trying to do together going forward.
" Govan took note of the comment. "I am a little disappointed that folk can't respect 30 years of work because I will let the work I have done speak for me," he said. "I don't know where they were when we were walking the streets trying to get the drug dealers off the street here with the People's Assault on Drugs," Govan continued.
