Queen Mary of Denmark has called on the fashion industry to do more for sustainability at the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen. At the two-day summit, the royal spoke on the importance of Copenhagen – one of the fashion capitals of the world – improving its environmental footprint, ethics, human rights issues and labour conditions throughout the supply chain. The 52-year-old urged guests to be more mindful about the environment.

"However, when they will be seen in something that is mine, it always brings a smile to my face.'' She praised the growing practice of borrowing, swapping and obtaining clothes from thrift shops and flea markets.
