West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder is looking forward to being part of “something special” as the Caribbean side prepares to face England in the first Test of a three-match series bowling off tomorrow at Lord’s. And the Windies are using the recent weather setback in the region as motivation. Holder and fast bowler Jayden Seales spoke to the media and Seales said when they take the field tomorrow, they will have the Caribbean people in their minds following the devastation caused by Hurricane Beryl last week.

“We are not doing it for ourselves. We are doing it for the people back home who support us. They have been hit by the hurricane so drastically.



We will try our best to make them feel a sense of pride,” said Seales. Holder added: “The buzz around the T20 World Cup and the success of the recent past has definitely revived the cricketing lives of the people in the Caribbean. I think any bit of spark and encouragement we can give them will be through our performances and that is what we pledged as a group to try and make them as proud as possible in these tough times.

” The visitors head into the series as the holders of the Richards-Botham Trophy, which they won via a hard-fought 1-0 victory over England in the Caribbean in 2022.
