BENNINGTON — The Bennington Marauders hosted the Connecticut River Valley Stingrays for a dual swim meet on Tuesday, winning in dominant fashion. Marauders swimmers claimed victory in 73 of the 82 races, highlighted by eight-win performances from Amelia Zazzaro and Sam Tock. Both Bennington swimmers went a perfect six-for-six in their individual races, and were part of a pair of winning relay teams.
Zazzaro’s individual wins came in the: 100 yard individual medley, 50 yard freestyle, 50 yard butterfly, 100 and 200 yard freestyle and the 50 yard breastroke. Tock’s individual wins came in the: 100 yard individual medley, 50 yard freestyle, 50 and 100 yard breaststroke, 50 yard butterfly and the 100 yard freestyle. A total of five Bennington athletes secured more than five victories in the meet, with Emily Tibbetts (six), Braeden McManus (six) and Shay Callanan (six) right behind the pace set by Zazzaro and Tock.
Twenty six different Bennington swimmers recorded at least one victory, while three different Stingrays won races. Connecticut River Valley was led by Carl Johnson, who won four events. Roxcy Cammock and Ella Pelletier each won three events for the visitors.
Five Marauders were a part of four wins: Ingrid Kline, Boston Lebert, James Tock, Danicka Harrington and Lucy Poole. Six more Bennington athletes won three total events: Kaylin and Regan Fahey, Nixon Lebert, Charlie Paquin, Holden Bartlett and Alison Oldham. Keegan Avienu, Chase Sullivan, John Fahey, Finley Ba.
